Selikowitz, Mark. Down Syndrome: The Facts. Oxford: Oxford UP, 1997. Print.

This book is about Down syndrome. Its main points are how they affect the families, how the families cope with having a child with Down syndrome, and many others. Throughout the book, the author explains to the readers what Down syndrome is and how it effects the brain and body. They also use many examples that would make the reader understand what they themselves will be going through if they have a child with Down syndrome. Throughout the book, Selikowitz uses many examples and statements that include medical facts. These medical facts help in my paper because they will show what the families will go through if they have a Down syndrome child. As well as, in making sure that, their Down syndrome child will get the best future. This book is about Down syndrome like many of my sources. Although, there are many chapters about different things that a person would deal with if they have Down syndrome.

This book is related to my work because it is about Down syndrome and it shows the illness more in-depth, making my readers understand what Down syndrome really is and how it effects the body. This source, like all of the rest, is about down syndrome, this article goes more in depth with the illness. This source is worth using because it is about Down syndrome and how it effects the body.

MacDonald, James D. "Down Syndrome." South African Medical Journal 101.1 (2011): 6. Print.

This article talks about new ways to make sure that Down syndrome children are getting the best schooling and education altogether. This article is a study where the author used different learning activities and saw which one was better for the children. The author uses many medical terms showing that he knows what he is talking about. This source works with my paper because I want to show to the audience that the education process will help the Down syndrome children by achieving in life, by getting jobs, and a good education. This source is like my other sources, the article is about the education process with Down syndrome children.  It is very helpful to my writing project because it gives useful information on how in today’s time we are trying to find the best ways for those children to survive in the world.

Roizen, Nancy J., and David Patterson. "Down's Syndrome." The Lancet (2003): 1281-9. Print.

Nancy J. Roizen and David Patterson’s article is about Down Syndrome. This article looks at Down syndrome itself and what happens in the body. In the beginning of the article, the readers learn about Down syndrome in the body. The article goes through the chromosomes that create Down syndrome and what has to happen to create Down syndrome.  Afterwards the authors talk about pregnancy, new born babies and how Down syndrome happens within the womb. The author’s use a lot of scientific facts making the reader know that the authors come from a scientific background. This source works with my paper because it goes with how Down syndrome is created. As well as looking at how the parents are effected. This source is worth using in my essay because it talks about how Down syndrome affects the body. As well as how Down syndrome is created and what parts of the bodies are affected.

Harold Ellis’s article is about Down syndrome and about John Langdon. Throughout the article, the author talks about John Langdon Down. Ellis talks about how Down found Down syndrome and his background story. Throughout the article they talk about Down’s research, like what will happen to the body. Also making sure that the reader knows everything about John Langdon Down and what he had to go through to work with Down syndrome. This will support my main point by telling the story of John Langdon Down. This will be done by using all of his research to support what the author is talking about. This article relates to my paper because my paper is about Down syndrome. Adding who found the illness will help the reader understand the illness a little more. I think this is a great article to use in my paper, because the article will tell the audience who found the illness and who realized what the illness was. If it was not for the founder of Down syndrome we would have not have known about the illness until later in history.

Fidler, DJ. "Education and Children with Down Syndrome: Neuroscience, Development, and Intervention." Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Research Reviews 13 (2007): 262-71. Print.

Afterward, the author talks about Down syndrome and how educator’s deals with the illness. As well as the new ways that educators are trying to teach the students more. This source relates to my paper because, it is about the education process and how it is coming along throughout time. My paper is going to talk about education of Down syndrome students. I have a couple of other sources that also deals with the education process of Down syndrome students, but this helps tell readers how new education processes will occur. I will put this in my essay because it does deal with education and the future of education for Down syndrome children.

Hentoff, Nat. "Down Syndrome Adult Speaks for Herself." The Fort Morgan Times. Prairie Mountain Publishing, 1 Dec. 2011. Web. 5 Apr. 2014.

In Nat Hentoff’s article, in the Fort Morgan times, tell a story about a Down syndrome adult speaking about herself. Throughout the article, the adult in the article tell readers how Down syndrome children/ adults with siblings are happy. Those siblings say that they are treat their sibling with Down syndrome no differently from their other siblings. The adult also talk about all of the things that Down syndrome children can do, like competing in the Special Olympics. This article is supported by the adult that is speaking and through her personal experiences. The article shows how she truly feels and how others with down syndrome feel as well. This newspaper article is very helpful in making my audience understand how Down syndrome children/adults feel about having the illness. This article is not like any other of my articles because it is those adults talking about the syndrome from their point of view.  I am going to use this in my paper because it is very useful knowledge in understanding what those people feel.

Cunniff, Christopher. Health supervision for children with Down syndrome. Pediatrics (Evanston). 2001. Print.

In Christopher Cunniff’s article on children with Down syndrome, Cunniff talks about Down syndrome and the bodies chromosomes to create Down syndrome. The author first talks about prenatal Down syndrome. Then Cunniff goes on to tell the readers about what happens to the body and brain after being born with Down syndrome. This article is supported by using medical facts and being published throughout different medical journals. This article works with my other sources because it does talk about Down syndrome. One of the differences is that throughout the article it touches on Down syndrome in the body and in the womb. The article also is different because it only talks about children with Down syndrome and not adults. I will use this in my paper because it shows a different side of Down syndrome. This article only shows the infant stages of having Down syndrome. This article will help support my paper by showing the audience that it effects Down syndrome has on children.
